Zenyatta Mon-What????

Lord I feel old. I just told my 25year old co-worker that I am going to see The Police at Madison Square Garden tonight - Francesca gave me her spare ticket. Wasn't that FABULOUS of her? What a friend. I'm taking her to dinner as a thank you - and she responded, “you are going to see who?”

Me: The Police. You know The Police. Sting's old group?

Co-worker (looking at me blankly): Erm…no.

Me: Yes you do. You must do. Y'know....Roxanne? Can’t stand losing? Don’t stand so…(continue to receive blank looks)…ohhhh forget it!!

Kids today!! Pah!!

Ha ha ha ha ha...I know the Police but I don't know their songs (I think, except for some songs I may have heard which titles I don't know). Btw I'm 28 so you would group me as a "kid" too??????? He he he he...

I went to a music festival here in Seattle and there was a Journey cover band. My friend who came with me said, "This sounds so 80's... But they wrote great lyrics!". She has no idea who Journey is. I didn't tell her, it was fun to watch the die hard Journey fans give her funny looks.

Oh, and the people who don't know who the Police are, are the same people who think "Every Breath you take" is perfect for a first dance song at a wedding...creepy.

Hmmmm a first song at a wedding??? That is odd. What is it that Sting said about it, that it's a song about stalking or something? Very creepy as a wedding song.

Wakey Waitress - Glad you are keeping up the bloggin'

Lovely weekend all.

Hope you had fun at the concert.
The Police were one of those bands that I could never like ~ and I've had much the same problem with Sting.

But at least I do know who they are.

I wish I could say I don't know who the Police are, but alas I do. All part and parcel of being 34 and not really knowing who Akon is. Have to admit I have no idea who Journey are, though an American friend here in Australia swears they are his favourite band of all time.

Whether you like them or not I was totally surprised that a 25year old didn't even know who The Police were. I mean Janice Joplin, The Doors et al were before my time too, but I've heard of them. Perhaps she's just not a music lover :-)

The Police. I thought they were "hip" enough that those at least around ten year my junior would know about them.

I mean, come on, it's the freaking POLICE! "Don't Stand so Close to Me", "Roxanne", "SOS"...

I am so stuck in the eighties....
